Obsidian Knives
Knapped Obsidian Buffalo Hunter
During the time when a cutting tool was some form of stone, volcanic glass
(obsidian) was the most prized of all the materials available. It enabled
blades to be made that would cut better than any other material. Obsidian
was so prized that men would travel hundreds of miles on foot to gather
enough for a supply of tools.
Craftsman Landon Selby uses the same materials and the
same techniques to create these knives exclusively for us. Each Obsidian
knife is handmade and will vary in size, shape and color. While the blades
are sharp enough to skin a deer, we do not recommend their use as a tool.
They are fragile.
Buffalo Hunter
Exclusive
The Buffalo Hunter is made with bone from genuine plains buffalo.
The bone is a product of farm raised buffalo, the availability of which
limits how many of these knives can be made. Each handle has an Indian
pictograph of a running buffalo cut into the bone handle. 3-1/2"
to 4" Obsidian blade.

Obsidian Skinner
We have offered knives with white-tail crowns and with buffalo
bone handles. His newest is a skinner with deer antler crowns as the handle.
The combination of these crowns with the obsidian make a really neat flaked
skinner blade. Measures about 9" overall and weighs about 3 oz. (Each
is slightly different. Blades vary from about 3-1/4" to 4" in
length.) No sheath is provided.
