Browning Liberty Tree Bowie
First Release in the Living History Series
Limited to 1776 pieces
The Liberty Tree knife is the first in a series of six knives honoring
American people, events or locations of historical significance. Five
more have been planned honoring the following: The Alamo, Robert E. Lee,
Dwight Eisenhower, the Vietnam War and Crazy Horse. Each knife is developed
by Browning and American Forests when wood becomes available from a tree
that witnessed the event.
During the American Revolution, those who opposed the Crown of Great
Britain often used a tree as a gathering place for the purpose of planning
the future of this country. These trees became known as Liberty Trees.
When a meeting tree was identified by the British it was often cut down
to remove the meeting place. A few of the Liberty Trees survived the axe
and the passage of over 200 years.
The wood in the handle of this knife is from the last Liberty Tree that
survived all but a hurricane's fury in Annapolis, Maryland. The 8-3/8"
blade of 420HC is reminiscent of designs commonly found in the hands of
our colonial forefathers and is marked "The Unanimous Declaration
of the Thirteen States of America". The Tulip Poplar handle is embellished
with two gold stars in memory of patriotic ideals that live today in those
who love this land. The bolsters are brass. The prototype was made by
Larry Harley. Will be limited to 1,776 individually numbered pieces. Ships
with a display case of American Walnut with a beveled glass top with a
certificate of authenticity. Made in the U. S. A. Call
for expedited shipping. 48 states only.
