Peregrine Falcon

The Peregrine Falcon is a favorite subject. Built for speed and power, when it dives, it becomes the fastest animal in the world reaching speeds over 200 miles per hour. Peregrines, though only about the size of a crow, can kill larger birds, such as pigeons and ducks. There have even been reports of Peregrines killing birds as large as a Great Blue Heron. It prefers to catch its prey on the wing, usually killing a bird by slamming it with its fisted talons. Centuries ago people discovered that this king of the sky could be tamed to work and falconry became the aerial weapon of hunters and sportsmen.

Reproduced from the impressive wood carving by Phil Galatas of a Peregrine Falcon in a full dive, each of these collectible pieces is handcast in poly stone and resin, and hand-painted in exquisite detail. Each is mounted on a 6-1/2" diameter solid wood base with a metal name plate. Measures 14" tall from table top.
