Koji Hara Sakai Cutlery Collaboration
Limited Quantities Available in U. S.
from A. G. Russellâ„¢
This unusual and exquisite gentleman's folder is a collaboration between one of Japan's top makers of handmade folders (Koji Hara) and one of Japan's top knife manufacturers (G. Sakai). The theme is the bamboo plant, common in Japanese history and culture. The natural slim shape and flexible curves of the female bamboo makes it a perfect material for the creation of many utilitarian items. The use of bamboo evolved into an art form in Japan hundreds of years ago. Koji has masterfully continued its use as a theme in the art or knife making.
The 2-5/8" drop point blade is mirror polished laminated 420-J2 with a VG-10 core at 59-61 Rc. The single thumbstud is set with a pearl to match the handle material. The bamboo shaped handle is either White Mother-of-Pearl or Black Lip Pearl with inlaid nickel silver bands representing the joints of the bamboo stalk. The crane, another traditional Japanese symbol, was chosen by Koji as an intrical part of the logo. Measures 3-1/4" closed and weighs 2.0 oz. Includes a black leather pocket pouch in an aluminum box with a hinged lid. Made in Japan. The quantities we were able acquire are very small and will go very quickly.
