As the second in our African Big 5 series of decanter and glasses, we have chosen the rhinoceros, the world's most massive land animal after the elephant, and one of the African Big 5 for trophy hunting.

Each master engraving for the medallion begins with a detailed drawing, which is then transferred onto a thick sheet of sterling silver. The artist then uses tools, often handmade specifically for this purpose, to remove bits of metal, sculpting every detail. A special mold is then made at the Heritage Pewter foundry to faithfully reproduce the intricacy of the engraving.

The high relief cast medallions are "fine Pewter", a modern mixture of 90% tin and some antimony or bismuth. Unlike antique and lower quality modern pewter, there is no lead what-so-ever in this material. It is therefore, perfectly safe for use with food. The glass decanter holds 23 oz. of your favorite beverage.
