Bill Ruger lived the life that most young men of his generation would have envied if they had known what it was. Only as the years passed did Bill Ruger's private life become somewhat public. We all knew that he took the mantels of Horace Winchester, John Moses Browning, and Samuel Colt and built his young company to the point that it dominated all of the older American Arms companies. As the years passed, we learned that he built and drove his own sports car, was an avid hunter, history buff and art collector, particularly of subjects pertaining to the American West, Hunting, Wildlife, Landscape, and Historical Art. I did not know Bill Ruger well, we had met and always spoke at the NRA shows. I knew his son-in-law Steve Vogel much better. We would talk guns and knives whenever we could manage the time. From the launching of his first factory in the 1950s until his death in 2002 ,William Batterman Ruger was "THE" American Gunmaker.

Being able to afford this kind of art puts you in competition with the art museums, not only in this country but around the World. His Granddaughter, Adrienne Ruger Conzelman is a professional in the art industry and has done a wonderful job of presenting the 83 photographs in a 200 page hardcover book with discussion on each work of art. 10-1/2" x 11-1/2". Weighs 3 lbs 10.5 oz. I highly recommend this book to both those interested in early American art and to those interested in the life of Bill Ruger.
