The modern game, except for the doubling cube, is four to five hundred years old. The doubling cube itself is less than 100 years old. Hands down, one of my favorite board games when the kids and grandkids are home for the holidays.

This very handsome inlaid wood set includes 15 natural and 15 brown wood playing checkers, 2 sets of dice, a doubling cube, and 2 leather cups.
