Civil War blankets were made by Woolrich® and supplied to the troops from 1861 to 1865. Those were the blankets that the soldiers relied upon for warmth as they fought through long cold winters. Woolrich is currently manufacturing authentically reproduced versions of those blankets in the same colors and patterns as the originals. They are made by the same woolen mill that produced those original blankets, still in operation in Woolrich, Pennsylvania. This same wool fabric is used by historical groups and movie studios to create authentic uniforms and blankets for Civil War re-enactments.

The army issued blankets with distinctive colors to the various branches. This particular pattern and color, red with navy stripes, was issued to the Artillery. To make currently produced blankets wear better and last longer than the originals, Woolrich has added 15% Nylon to the wool. Can be used as a throw or will fit a small bed. Great for a young man with an interest in history or the military. Measures 70" x 84". Hand wash or dry clean.
