These fine pieces of dinnerware and serving pieces were created as a result of a personal search for elegant western dinnerware. Abigail Hornik - Minckler had access to a large collection of photography by L. A. Huffman (1854-1931), perhaps the most significant photographer of the West. Huffman's camera captured the Cowboy and Native American culture, the buffalo herds and the burgeoning cattle and sheep industry and provides us a glimpse into the history of frontier America. These pieces were designed for people who love the Western lifestyle and want to integrate their passion into their homes and at their dining table.
"Roundup Outfit Breaking Camp", an 1890 photograph by Huffman graces this 16" square platter creating an elegant piece for serving or wall display. The decal image is applied to a dolomite platter, which is then glazed and fired to make it microwave and dishwasher safe. Dolomite is a lightweight composite material, which allows the large piece to be hung on the wall. Measures 16" x 16" and weighs 14 lbs.
