~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While nobody is certain when the ancient game of Shut-The-Box was created, most accounts credit Norman seafarers with its origin. The game then spread to various parts of the world with some accounts mentioning its popularity among the fur traders of the Hudson Bay Company. Shut-the-Box uses two dice and a special wooden playing tray or box with numbered wooden tiles. A turn involves repeatedly throwing the dice and covering a number, or series of numbers, that match the dice. The overriding goal is to completely cover all numbers or "shut the box", which results in the best possible score of zero. The more players there are, the more exciting the action. Features solid wood numbered tiles (1-9) and handmade wooden dice in a felt-lined box. Instructions are printed on the inside of box lid. Measures 10-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 3" and weighs 3.5 lbs.
