Dennis Eckersley is one of three relievers currently in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed overwhelming success as both a starter and a closer and was the first pitcher in Major League history to have both a 20 win season and a 50 save season in his career. He built his success on a good fastball, an excellent, hard-breaking slider, and superb control. Arich Harrison might well have had Eckersley in mind when he created "The Closer".

Harrison often chooses sports figures for the subject of the sculptures he creates from clay. Once he has captured the essence of his subject, intensity, concentration or pain, the piece he creates for Mill Creek Studios is then cast in a blend of fine resins and pure white alabaster, or alabaster and porcelain powders. Each individual piece is then hand painted by skilled artisans as specified by Harrison. "The Closer" measures 9" x 7" and 22" from the table top to the top of his hat. Weighs 13 lbs. 14 oz.
