Using custom-designed wood/steel forms, each canoe is built to a uniform shape, yet is individualized by the texture and grain patterns in the wood and handiwork of the craftsmen. After the cedar ribs have been steamed and bent over the form, the cedar planking is hand-nailed to the outside of the ribs with brass tacks. This creates a very strong and lightweight fastening system. Upon completion of planking, the canoe is removed from the form and a watertight covering using clear epoxy is applied to the outside hull. Seats, deck and thwarts are installed. The interiors and exteriors are then protected with five coats of marine spar varnish with added UV protection. Approximately 80 man hours go into the construction of each canoe. Handmade in Canada.

Includes two sets of brass oar sockets, one set of oar locks or leathers, and one pair of cherry oars; cherry trim seats, and backrest. A wide, fan-shaped stern seat is also included that looks and feels fantastic. As versatile as it is beautiful, the Skylark is destined to become a hit with sportsmen as well as the recreational rower. And if you prefer not to row, the Skylark's square stern allows for up to a 4HP gas motor (or any size electric) to be mounted instead. White cedar. Measures 14 ft. 2 in. long and 40 in. at the beam.
